The New Digs in Provo

Well, as you probably know, I am now in Provo, Utah because I’m starting school at BYU on Monday!! On Thursday, Dad, RaeAnn, and I made the trip down to Provo. We got all unloaded and RaeAnn help me set everything up in my bedroom and the kitchen. Then we did some serious grocery shopping! RaeAnn stayed the night in my apartment (pulling a Loreli, you know).  Then I took her to the Salt Lake Airport so she could head to Seattle for Paul’s 10 yr. reunion. (p.s. Utah drivers are crazy!) Then Danny, Sarah, Charlie, Donald, and Dad al came down to show me around campus and get my student ID, bus pass, and books. We went to dinner that night at Tucano’s, which was being hosted by our old family friends, the Billin’s.  And then, we got some ice cream from the BYU Creamery, because you just have to do that when at BYU! :)  On Saturday, Dad and I went to American Fork to visit Grandma and we did some more shopping for things that we needed at the apartment.  And then he took me back to the apartment and we said goodbye til Thanksgiving:(

Now, for the story portion of the blog: so, on Friday night when I got home from dinner, Aimee informed me that our fridge was broken. It was running, but all of our chicken in the freezer had thawed and everything was kind of warm. So we took the salvageable food to our neighbor's apartments and asked if we could borrow some fridge space.  Since it broke Friday night, we couldn’t call maintenance because they were closed til Monday, so we called our RA who got someone out to replace the fridge Saturday afternoon.  So, now we have  a working fridge but a huge load of chicken to eat, so last night I cooked it all and we had 3 guests join us for dinner (Madisen, Aimee’s friend Corbin and one of his friends). We still have like 7 pieces left, but I think we made some progress.  The real bummer was that Melissa had bought a bag of chicken  from Cosco, but since it was like “pre-cooked” her parents said it was probably a lost cause so we had to throw it away. But other than that, I think we were pretty lucky.  So, of course, after we got a working fridge, we took advantage of Melissa’s parent’s car and went to the grocery store to get everything I could think to get!

Well, here are some pictures of the apartment, so you can imagine that you are here…CIMG1084

*view from the door* We’re gonna hang that bulletin board/whiteboard on the wall that’s next to the door.CIMG1085

*The couch, which we actually have now moved…I’ll have to take another picture later…after everything’s been hung and what-not. but we got 2 pilliows from Ikea (the ones with the two stemmed flowers, see the bottom left-hand corner of this picture) and then got fabric to match them and Melissa’s mom made us all those cute pillows. Oh, and the white, pink, and green fabric on the floor is going to be used to put on those square wood frames and then we’ll put them on the wall above the couch*

*This is mine and Melissa’s bedroom. I have the bottom bunk and the desk right next to it. My closet is at the foot of my bed*

*And this is Aimee’s bed. Note the BYU Bookstore bags on all of our beds. It was obviously book day when I took these*
