The Long Awaited Event

Well, I know you have all been excitedly waiting to hear what it was that Jamison, Melissa, and I planned last week to do this weekend (at least I know that Ashley was), so here was the week:

On Wednesday, I dyed my hair. That’s right. I just dyed it a darker color…the reason will come soon…

Pretty crazy, right!? Then on Thursday, Jamison, Melissa, and I went to Heather Cove to look for a new apartment and then we signed our contract. It’s a 4 girl apartment (2 bedrooms) so it’ll be us three and then one of Jamison’s friends from Alpine living there. We’ll have 2 bathrooms and a laundry room!! We are really excited. They are super nice and way close to campus and just had everything that we were looking for. Then, on Friday the big day arrived, the day we’d been planning for…the day of the Harry Potter Dance!!! We decided last week that Scott (the boy in our ward who looks like Harry Potter) really needed to go to this dance because he looks just like HP. Then we decided that Jamison should go with him because she looks a lot like Ginny Weasley,

but Jamison said that Melissa and I had to go, too, so I dyed my hair darker so I could be Pansy Parkinson and go with Jamison’s friend, Chase, who looks like Draco Malfoy.

Then there’s another boy in our ward who looks like Ron Weasley, so we decided he could go with Melissa, who would dress up as Hermione Granger.

Then another kid in our ward came as Seamus and Jamison’s friend from Vegas was in town, too, so she dressed up and met us there.

Anyway…the whole night was pretty hilarious with all of the HP references and it was way fun. It is also the reason that I changed my playlist to the Harry and the Potters playlist all week…there music is so funny. Jamison gave me like 100 Harry and the Potters, Ministry of Magic, and Draco and the Malfoys songs this week for my ipod, and I’m loving them. Anyway, that was my super exciting week.

4 States in 1 Day

Sorry to miss last weeks post, but I was partying it up in Walla Walla!! :) I had a three day weekend last week, so on Friday I caught a ride with some friends from 8th grade up to Boise. I went to my dad’s house and enjoyed some popcorn and caught up on Friday Night Lights (my one TV show I can’t watch at school…) On Saturday morning,  I got up bright and early, stopped at Blue Sky for some breakfast, and headed out to Walla Walla for a weekend with my sisters. When I got there, Ashley and I went to a yummy Chinese restaurant, then we took the kids to the park. It was super fun because Grace was totally lovin’ me, though Thomas thought I was a monster so…what can I say? You win some, you lose some, right? Then we went home and played some band hero, had dinner with their friends and learned another confusing game that I will never beat Nolan at, but fun nonetheless. :)

On Sunday, Ashley and I baked sugar cookies for Valentine’s Day, which pretty much resulted in me being covered in flour. I don’t know why I can’t make those darn cookies without getting myself so messy. We frosted them while watching Harry Potter (which is pretty much a tradition; it would be a very strange trip if we didn’t watch a little HP). Then we went to church (heard a great talk by Nolan and got to teach the suuunnnnBEAMS!) and came home to find RaeAnn and J. Bear. We got to play some more band hero with them (RaeAnn more than Jenna…) and then we had a delicious dinner of pork roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, and scones. That’s right. Be jealous if you must. Then we played Bang! and stayed up late having a sister chat (I sure miss those). Sadly, Monday morning I had to get up early again and make the drive back to Boise, where I met up with my ride back to Provo. 20 hours of driving in 4 days, but it was worth it :) (not as bad as the 24 hours of driving in 3 days that Melissa and I did first semester to go to AZ for like a day…)

The exciting weekend definitely helped my week go by faster. It felt like a blink of the eye and then it was Friday again. This Friday, Amy, Abby, Emily, Madisen, Melissa, and I went to Inn n’ Out and then we went to Madisen’s apartment to watch What Happens in Vegas (you know why…haha). On Saturday we had a cleaning check, so we spent the day cleaning and then had a roommates dinner at Olive Garden, which was super fun. We also made some serious plans for this weekend…I don’t want to give anything about, but let me just say…Harry Potter…I know you’re all in suspense. :)

The Eclectic Post

So, I had a lot of random ideas for posts this week, but none that would stand well on their own, and so I created what I like to call…the Eclectic Post. This post will be a glimpse into how my mind works (see if you can keep up)

I’ve decided that Nicholas Sparks and I have a love/hate relationship. How so? Well, the man writes some of the most amazing love stories and so I love him. He can never end a book happily, and so I ate him. haha. These last few weeks, I’ve been reading his books and it’s just KILLING me that something tragic ends all of them. You kill me Nicholas. Why can’t it end happily? I mean, I agree that books shouldn’t be “magic worlds” where nothing goes wrong (like how Stephenie Meyer cannot, for the life of her, have tragedy in her books…they all end perfectly), but still. Really?!

Next, I love my crockpot. But I am developing a fear of cooking roasts. They just don’t compare to Dad’s. And I never pick out good ones…or maybe I do and then I just ruin them. That’s a huge possibility.

Life Unexpected. New CW Show. I am loving it. It’s kind of 7th Heaven meets Gilmore Girls (not because they are witty like GG, just because it’s about a girl who had a kid in high school) meets…I don’t know…something else. It’s pretty good though. First 3 episodes on CWtv.com right now…just sayin

On Thursday I had to drive Melissa’s car to go tutoring (because her committee is in charge of the tutoring thing, but she has a class so she couldn’t go, but they needed someone to drive and I was going so I drove her car.) It was kind of nerve racking to drive someone else’s car. And I also realized that I will have to drive Mali for the rest of my life because I don’t like how other cars drive and I love how Mali drives. Anyway, we got to the tutoring place and like no one came. After an hour, we realized that there was no school the next day, so the guy in charge of the whole thing told us to leave. (P.S. this was pretty much the only eventful thing I did all week…)

On Friday, my friend Jenny (from Whole Grain in Mesa) told me she got engaged. I feel like everyone is getting married. The funny thing is, none of the people I know that are getting married go to BYU. What was that stereotype about BYU again?? haha. And then my friend Aubrey (also from Whole Grain) told me she just got her call and is going on a mission to Eugene, Oregon, which is where my friend Justin is serving…small world.

Melissa and I get soup every week at the Creamery in the Cougar eat, and this week when we were there, a guy got in line behind Melissa and they had some banter about who got the last of the bread. It was super cute. And everyday since then she’s said, “Remember when we saw that hot boy at the soup place?” So, we’re planning on going again this week on the same day and time, in the hopes of seeing him again.

Lastly, I have some new favorites. First, 3 new songs I’ve found that I love: Set the Fire to the Third Bar by Snow Patrol, Winter Song by Ingrid Michaelson, and Samson by Regina Spektor (side note: there are 3 songs that I’ve been listening to lately that refer to the story of Samson in the Bible: 1. above mentioned, Samson 2. Hallelujah and 3. Someday we’ll know. That seems a little weird to me…am I alone?) And, today in Sacrament, I learned a new quote that I really like: Life isn’t about avoiding the storms; it’s about learning how to dance in the rain.

And, on that note, I will end my rambling…Oh, also, 5 days til Boise…6 days til Walla Walla (hopefully, cross your fingers for good weather!!)
